Using the chi'ishi develops the forearms, delts, pecs, rhomboids, traps, adductors, quads, & glutes. These are muscles for punching, elbow strikes, and blocking. Your neuro-muscular system will lock in punching and blocking while you build strength. You will strike and block reflexively with power.

Develop the eagle claw grip with the nigiri game. Walking with a nigiri game with arms extended improves balance. The Hojoundo & Hojoundo Super Sets have the gripping disks needed for the nigiri game configuration.

Sashi ishi exercises strengthen the body core so YOU can deliver explosive power. The Sashi ishi also aids in developing power in low stances for throwing and unbalancing opponents.

Taking all the aspects of the chi'ishi, nigiri game, Sashi ishi system together we call the Punch/Block Power Charger because it power charges your martial arts.

The chi'ishi is a heavy duty version of Indian clubs. The difference from Indian clubs is that you control the loading using standard one inch weight plates.

In Bruce Lee's Fighting Method Bruce Lee is seen using a chi'ishi. Bruce Lee was trained in Chinese kung fu. In Chinese the chi'ishi is called kunso.

The Fall 2007 edition of Martial Arts Experts published an article on the value of the Punch/Block Power Charger in traditional martial arts training. See the article now!

You need to work out with all forms of the Punch/Block Power Charger. Explosive core power with weak wrists can result in you breaking your wrist. Strong wirsts without explosive core power can result in you never delivering your punch. The warrior must be a total package in mind and body.

Strengthen the wrists

Chi'ishi exercises that focus on the wrist strengthen shuto (knife hand), ridge hand and back fist strikes, tensho covers, iaido, and cutting. Strong wirsts reduce the potential for injury in striking.

Strength rotator cuffs and arms for punching and blocking strength

Chi'ishi exercises develop the shoulders and arms for speed and power for hand & elbow strikes and blocking in the martial arts. Baseball players will find it strengthens their throwing arm.

Strengthen grip for grappling and controlling.

Using the nigiri game, the gripping jars of Okinawa, develops powerful hands for grappling, seizing, controlling, tearing, and ripping. Police and corrections officers will find this useful in controlling prisoners.

Build core flexibility

Sashi ichi exercises develop core power, especially the obliques, for explosive power from the body core to drive home strikes. Basketball players would find this useful for body checking.
