| The reason for listing this book is that it is helpful in helping you use elements of your environment for self-defense. This book covers the manrikigusari, also known as the gusari, the weighted chain. A flexible belt with a heavy buckle and steel tipped tang is a close approximation. Learning to use the gusari then is a useful way to learn how to use your belt when you need to.
Certainly the "ninja" thing has been overplayed with kiddie movies. But real ninjas did have some useful tools such as the gusari. It is so good that it is illegal in several states in the U.S.
The book also covers the shuriken, the throwing star. The author is Charles Gruzanski who is the first Westerner to be admitted to the International Martial Arts Research Association.
Paperback, 7 x 5 inches, 103 pages, 4th printing 2003. ISBN 0-8048-1705-7

| "The right of self-defense is the first law of nature; ... when the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - Henry St. George Tucker, in Blackstone's 1768 Commentaries on the Laws of England. |
