The Macho Chest Guard features hidden trauma plate, 1-1/2 inches of foam, and molded contour design. Width of the CHILD size chest guard is 27 inches; length is 13.5 inches. This is the just a bit smaller than the Macho Sport Chest size Medium. For the ADULT chest guard the width is 33 inches; length is 16 inches. This is the same size as Macho Sport Chest size Large. This chest guard differs from other Macho chest guard in that it has the trauma plate to distribute the impact of a punch or kick over a wide area. Even with a strong punch the impact is spread out. The other Macho chest guards, and indeed most generally available guards, are pads that cushion a blow without spreading the impact. We have come to this point of view from experience ourselves using both guards, and having students use them, in sparring.
